Newest Solution to Stunning is a JOKE!

Once again Wizard 101 attempts, and let me repeat attempts, to solve an arena issue with the result being that it only degrades the game outside of the arena. The newest "solution" to chain stunning in the arena is the introduction of the placement of 4 stuns on a player/NPC if a stun is used. The result, chain stunning has not been fixed, but worse the spells pierce, cleanse ward, and remove ward are now useless. Pierce, Cleanse Ward, (myth spells) and Remove Ward (ice spell) are now wasted on these 4 stuns. What idiot at that company thought this bright idea up, and didn't anyone test this idea out BEFORE releasing to the paying public?

How To Wait Wizard 101 Out

Most users have a fair amount of crown left on their account. Here is an option suggested to me by another user. Cancel membership and buy the area(s) you need to continue playing until the game becomes more reasonable.

Hope is the worst of evils, for it prolongs the torment of man. Fredrich Nietzch

  1. You need gold so buy the Ravens Northguard & Savarstaad Pass (1995 crown), and Ravenscar (1995 crown). TOTAL CROWN: 3990 crown.

  2. You need to craft treats and some gold so buy the Jade Palace & Hametsu Village (one area at 1,200 in crown). TOTAL CROWN: 1,200 crown.

  3. You need gear, gold and crafting so buy Malistair. Walking to Malistair on your own requires purchase of the Basilica & Atheneum (1,200), Dragonspyre Academy and Crystal Grove (1,200), and the Forum (1,200). TOTAL CROWN: 3,600 crown.

Buy areas of the game based on YOUR needs and desires. It is your computer and your free time. You do not get paid to test the bugs of this program.

Wizard101 Is No Longer a Game & Ambrose Has Developed Alzheimer's

A game by definition is a competitive activity or sport in which players contend with each other according to a set of RULES.

The new update has by design created some new ways to stall users from getting through the game that are inherently illogical to the rules and overall story of the game, and inconsistent with the poor excuse given for the removal of trading enchanted treasure cards from the game.

The poor excuse originally posted by Merle Ambrose (In Game Head Master of Ravenwood) "The trading of enchanted cards was never intended; it was an error on our part that players were able to use this system to gain access to spells they were never suppose to receive. ... The problem is, this may seem like a minor issue, but it is not. This one oversight fundamentally dilutes the unique nature of each class. Replicating these spells creates a huge imbalance in our system ..." blah blah blah with continued babbling of more nonsense from Kings Isle to justify this change. Along these lines, let us look at the following "game enhancements" which have recently been added for users pleasure.

  • Just in case you have not noticed users are now are facing higher fizzle rates (spells enchanted to 100% are fizzling also). hmmm.
  • If that wasn't enough to stall users in the game, power pips are running scarce and not in line with gear boost statistics. hmmm.
  • Shielding by NPCs Has Increased. Fair enough and well within the "rules" of the game, but still makes for a boring game.
  • Heavy Usage of Smoke Screen Among Fire NPCs. Fair enough, but isn't 3 in the first round a bit much. Well within the "rules" of the game so we still have a game so far. However, this is again quite boring for game play.
  • Illogical Decks and Blades Sported by Various NPCs Around the Spiral (Useage of Black Mantle by non-balance NPCs, Spirit Armour by fire NPCs, etc. Oops. What happened to the game you were talking about Professor Ambrose?
  • Every monster in the spiral studied the balance school up to weakness? hmmm. Why not have them study Ice up to tower also, since you are adding illogical items to the NPC decks.
  • Many NPCs are sporting blades not from their school along with the balance exclusive black mantle. hmmm. Ambrose is looking like a liar.
  • Fire Minion carried by DS Nonfire NPCs. Oops. Ambrose is very unaware.
  • Gear Not Giving Reported Boosts. Oops. Ambrose is clueless.
  • NPCs Getting Illogical Boosts. Oops. It is clear that Ambrose has developed Alzheimer's, and is not to be trusted.

  • Response from Kings Isle: The monsters cheat. More like the programmers are lazy because they do not know the game or the underlying story line. If you are going to throw out the rules of the game, Wizard101 is no longer has a game. Instead is a free for all where only users are limited.

Speaking of limiting users, the change to disallow trade of enchanted cards had one major change to game play. The cost for these spells just went up at least 10 times, IF they could even be found within the game. I have one question for our ailing head master (when he has a moment of clarity), where are all the NPCs of the game getting those out-of-school perfect-hitting treasure cards I am being hit with around the spiral.

AGAIN, the game is no longer a game, but simply a free for all.

Master Pets have been Rendered Useless (STILL)

Some of you are under the very false impression that new master pets will once again come with the original 5% power pip boost talent as their first teen talent. AS PER COMMUNICATION TO ME ON 7/19/10, level your pet to epic and then contact us if you don't see the 5% power pip boost. Well, my first talent on 3 new master pets was one of those worthless talents (the 4th was a mana boost*). Kings Isle employees so deserve and need to play this game without cheats. The problem with this update is that around 50% of the talents a master pet could have are useless as a user levels their pet. This means there is a pretty good chance of a master pet getting all useless talents. Another thing under this current joke of an update is that a mixed pet has a very strong chance of getting all useless talents.

Just in case you were wondering what your master pet could develop under this new pet update, here is a list:

    • USEFUL TALENTS

      • PIP BOOST - Original 5% of the master pet, but now the new master needs to “earn” it.

      • PROOF - Fire Proof, Storm Proof, etc. are all resist from same school of master pet.

      • GIVER - Storm Giver, etc. are all accuracy boosts from same school of master pet.

      • SHOT - Fire Shot, etc. are all hit boosts from same school of master pet.

      • PIPS O-PLENTY - An additional boost to the PIP BOOST talent.

      • HEALTH GIFT - Adds a set amount of health to the user.

      • MANA GIFT - Adds a set amount of mana to the user.

      • POSSIBLE CASTS BY PETS:
        • Blade - Storm seems to be the best option for this blade (but will it stack?)..

        • Trap - No information as to the uniqueness of this trap (but will it stack?).

        • Shield - No information as to the uniqueness of this shield (but will it stack?).

        • Weakness - No information because it keeps fizzling when it is cast by the lousy pet.

    • BUT THEN WE COME TO THE USELESS TALENTS. Each of these in various ways added 50 to the base total of 1050.

      • Tenacious
      • Astute
      • Spirited
      • Dashing
      • Durable
      • Efficient
      • Crafty
      • Tireless

These useless talents were part of the original update where the useless talents would help you in leveling your pet by increasing the total number of points for will, agility, power, etc. and allowing you to get "full" points for the mini game and treat. Even with these talents no user would have ever be close to the 1,875 total to reach epic. What their usefulness related to other than derby nonsense is still a mystery, and frankly should be removed from the game.

*Wasn't that what a Grutok ring and athame were for? What does a master or grand master need with a mana boost? Just another idiotic talent thrown into the pool of possibile talents done by employees that do not know the overall design of the game. OR do they? Is this simply a way to eliminate old users from the game. Get rid of that "old crown" through attrition (the wearing away by friction)? Think about it, this game is now just a money grab and no longer the children's game it was in the beginning. Those with menu chat have been left behind by this update.

Tired of Leveling Pet to Worthless Talents at High Prices

Tired of leveling your pet to worthless talents? With the worthless talents being approximately equal in number to the useful talents is this agony worth the effort for the gamble of getting one of those useful talents? While users are busy leveling their pets, they may be missing the costs of this newest gold sink hole introduced to the game.

THE OLD PLAN: Play ~528 mini games at a cost of between 132,000 and 229,000 in gold to level one of your pets from baby to epic to get 4 pet talents.

THE NEW PLAN: Play ~213 mini games at a cost of between 50,000 and 200,000 in gold to level ONE of your pets from baby to epic to get 4 pet talents.

PET TALENTS ARE A FARSE: Too many (around half) pet talents are simply useless. They have no in-game value except for the joke called the pet derby.

THE PLANNED UPDATE FOR LEVELING YOUR PET WENT SOMETHING LIKE THIS.

Your pet has things called strength, intellect, agility, will and power that have a total (master pets run 1,050 for that total). You level up your pet from baby to teen, to adult, to ancient and finally to epic giving your pet four “talents” along the way (see possible pet talents below). Now to get your pet from baby to epic takes 1,875 points. You might say “what happens after 1,050.” This is the rub. After you pet has maxed out on strength, intellect, agility, will and power you were expected to play 1 point for the mini game iff you performed awesome on the game and 1 point for the treat iff your pet liked or loved the snack. To understand how hideous this plan was understand that the makers were asking you to play

1,050/9 = 116 mini games to reach maximums
iff you played and snacked perfectly

    825/2 = 412 mini games with treats
iff you played and fed your pet perfectly.

For a total of 528 mini games to level ONE pet.

Let’s look at the costs for this privileged pet in the planned update. Those are level 6 or level 5 treats at a cost of 250 gold per xp point or 1,000 gold per treat (from the bazaar or crafted) in the first set of mini game leveling of your pet. That means

    1,000 x 116 = 116,000 in gold to get a pet a little past ancient IF BOUGHT
    250 x 116 = 29,000 IF CRAFTED

And then, lets just say you actually found a level one treat your pet liked for the remainder of this leveling process. That would have been

    412 x 250 = 103,000 if crafted or if bought

Thus, the planned total price to level ONE pet from baby to epic would have been

    219,000 in gold if purchased
    132,000 in gold if crafted

With the planned number of mini games being a little over 500.
PLEASE NOTE THESE ARE EXTREMELY GENEROUS NUMBERS. The actual numbers were higher.

OK OK KI decided to make it a little better, but just how much better was it?

KI RELENTED ON THE ORIGINAL PLAN (aren’t they just the best!)
You now can level your pet from baby to epic and ignore the numbers for strength, intellect, agility, will and power entirely. So let’s pretend we do perfect on the mini game (4 points possible) and 6 points for the snack for

1875/10 = 188 mini games to get from baby to epic.

Now the reality is closer to over 200 mini games. Let’s look at the costs of this newest “relenting.”

200 level 6 treats crafted run 250 each while those from the bazaar run around 1000 each. The cost of leveling a pet from baby to epic is now:

    50,000 in gold if crafted
    200,000 in gold if purchased

Now some users will mistakenly say, but there are lots of drops. Standard drop rates as they are around the spiral will yield you around 50 treats that will not be liked by your pet in most cases. This translates to more mini games.

Another route suggested by some users is to just play the mini game without feeding your pet. This translates to zero cost and 469 mini games (a little over double the number of mini games). BUT IT’S FREE that way.

SO YOU MAY ASK WHY LEVEL YOUR PET

The following is a list of master pet talents available and what might be worth the agony of the mind numbing mini game route:

USEFUL TALENTS: The obvious talents would be those we see from our gear and no surprises here from kings isle. Only the amounts are new to us. Newest surprise is a pet that casts. Possible talents include:

Blade - Storm seems to be the best option for this blade (but will it stack?).
Trap - No information as to the uniqueness of this trap (but will it stack?)
Shield - No information as to the uniqueness of this shield (but will it stack?)
Weakness - No information because it keeps fizzling when it is cast by the lousy pet just like the rest of those purple cards.

BUT THEN WE COME TO THE USELESS TALENTS

Useless talents add to the original total of 1050 which are termed Tenacious, Astute, Spirited, Dashing, Durable, Efficient, Crafty, Tireless. Each of these in various ways added 50 to the base total of 1050. With 3 of these useless talents your pet could be at a whopping 1200 total. This is part of the original update where the useless talents would help you in leveling your pet by increasing the total number of full points for game and full points for treat. Even with these talents no user would ever be close to the 1,875 total to reach epic. What their usefulness related to other than derby nonsense is still a mystery, and

    frankly Scarlet I don’t give a …
