Tired of Leveling Pet to Worthless Talents at High Prices

Tired of leveling your pet to worthless talents? With the worthless talents being approximately equal in number to the useful talents is this agony worth the effort for the gamble of getting one of those useful talents? While users are busy leveling their pets, they may be missing the costs of this newest gold sink hole introduced to the game.

THE OLD PLAN: Play ~528 mini games at a cost of between 132,000 and 229,000 in gold to level one of your pets from baby to epic to get 4 pet talents.

THE NEW PLAN: Play ~213 mini games at a cost of between 50,000 and 200,000 in gold to level ONE of your pets from baby to epic to get 4 pet talents.

PET TALENTS ARE A FARSE: Too many (around half) pet talents are simply useless. They have no in-game value except for the joke called the pet derby.

THE PLANNED UPDATE FOR LEVELING YOUR PET WENT SOMETHING LIKE THIS.

Your pet has things called strength, intellect, agility, will and power that have a total (master pets run 1,050 for that total). You level up your pet from baby to teen, to adult, to ancient and finally to epic giving your pet four “talents” along the way (see possible pet talents below). Now to get your pet from baby to epic takes 1,875 points. You might say “what happens after 1,050.” This is the rub. After you pet has maxed out on strength, intellect, agility, will and power you were expected to play 1 point for the mini game iff you performed awesome on the game and 1 point for the treat iff your pet liked or loved the snack. To understand how hideous this plan was understand that the makers were asking you to play

1,050/9 = 116 mini games to reach maximums
iff you played and snacked perfectly

825/2 = 412 mini games with treats
iff you played and fed your pet perfectly.

For a total of 528 mini games to level ONE pet.

Let’s look at the costs for this privileged pet in the planned update. Those are level 6 or level 5 treats at a cost of 250 gold per xp point or 1,000 gold per treat (from the bazaar or crafted) in the first set of mini game leveling of your pet. That means

1,000 x 116 = 116,000 in gold to get a pet a little past ancient IF BOUGHT
250 x 116 = 29,000 IF CRAFTED

And then, lets just say you actually found a level one treat your pet liked for the remainder of this leveling process. That would have been

412 x 250 = 103,000 if crafted or if bought

Thus, the planned total price to level ONE pet from baby to epic would have been

219,000 in gold if purchased
132,000 in gold if crafted

With the planned number of mini games being a little over 500.
PLEASE NOTE THESE ARE EXTREMELY GENEROUS NUMBERS. The actual numbers were higher.

OK OK KI decided to make it a little better, but just how much better was it?

KI RELENTED ON THE ORIGINAL PLAN (aren’t they just the best!)
You now can level your pet from baby to epic and ignore the numbers for strength, intellect, agility, will and power entirely. So let’s pretend we do perfect on the mini game (4 points possible) and 6 points for the snack for

1875/10 = 188 mini games to get from baby to epic.

Now the reality is closer to over 200 mini games. Let’s look at the costs of this newest “relenting.”

200 level 6 treats crafted run 250 each while those from the bazaar run around 1000 each. The cost of leveling a pet from baby to epic is now:

50,000 in gold if crafted
200,000 in gold if purchased

Now some users will mistakenly say, but there are lots of drops. Standard drop rates as they are around the spiral will yield you around 50 treats that will not be liked by your pet in most cases. This translates to more mini games.

Another route suggested by some users is to just play the mini game without feeding your pet. This translates to zero cost and 469 mini games (a little over double the number of mini games). BUT IT’S FREE that way.

SO YOU MAY ASK WHY LEVEL YOUR PET

The following is a list of master pet talents available and what might be worth the agony of the mind numbing mini game route:

USEFUL TALENTS: The obvious talents would be those we see from our gear and no surprises here from kings isle. Only the amounts are new to us. Newest surprise is a pet that casts. Possible talents include:

  • PIP BOOST - Original 5% of the master pet, but now the new master needs to “earn” it.

  • PROOF - Fire Proof, Storm Proof, etc. are all resist from same school of master pet.

  • GIVER - Storm Giver, etc. are all accuracy boosts from same school of master pet.

  • SHOT - Fire Shot, etc. are all hit boosts from same school of master pet.

  • PIPS O-PLENTY - An additional boost to the PIP BOOST talent.

  • HEALTH GIFT - Adds a set amount of health to the user.

  • MANA GIFT - Adds a set amount of mana to the user.

  • POSSIBLE CASTS BY PETS:
Blade - Storm seems to be the best option for this blade (but will it stack?).
Trap - No information as to the uniqueness of this trap (but will it stack?)
Shield - No information as to the uniqueness of this shield (but will it stack?)
Weakness - No information because it keeps fizzling when it is cast by the lousy pet just like the rest of those purple cards.

BUT THEN WE COME TO THE USELESS TALENTS

Useless talents add to the original total of 1050 which are termed Tenacious, Astute, Spirited, Dashing, Durable, Efficient, Crafty, Tireless. Each of these in various ways added 50 to the base total of 1050. With 3 of these useless talents your pet could be at a whopping 1200 total. This is part of the original update where the useless talents would help you in leveling your pet by increasing the total number of full points for game and full points for treat. Even with these talents no user would ever be close to the 1,875 total to reach epic. What their usefulness related to other than derby nonsense is still a mystery, and

frankly Scarlet I don’t give a …
